Eternal Fire breeze past Liquid in BLAST Lisbon opener

The Turks were in control throughout and sealed their revenge in two 13-7 maps.

Eternal Fire will now play G2 for a spot in the playoffs

Eternal Fire are victorious in their return to Copenhagen, where they finished second in their 2025 opener, BLAST Bounty, which now feels like an eternity ago as they have since played at three events. Their latest victory in the BLAST Studios, in their Open Lisbon first-round series, was swift 2-0 against Liquid on Dust2 (13-7) and Anubis (13-7).

Liquid, on the other hand, can’t shake off the woes that have plagued the team since the beginning of the year, when they were knocked out of the Bounty groups and the IEM Katowice Play-in. They did, however, beat Eternal Fire in their 5-8th place run at Pro League, a gain which could come undone in Denmark.

The Turks, hungry for revenge, came out swiping as Ismailcan "⁠XANTARES⁠" Dörtkardeş and Özgür "⁠woxic⁠" Eker shined from the start on Dust2, with the rifler topping the board with a 1.40 rating and the sniper following with a 1.26. On the other side, Russel "⁠Twistzz⁠" Van Dulken had a 1.22 rating; the only player on his team over 0.90.

Liquid failed to kickstart their comeback on Anubis as they a wall of Berettas on the B site in the pistol round and, after losing the first gun round, floundered while Eternal Fire took eight CT rounds into the half.

Eternal Fire brought their lead up to 11-4 after the second pistol and, while Liquid did briefly gain their footing with three defenses in a row, there was nothing to do as the Turks marched on to victory with a fantastic Engin "⁠MAJ3R⁠" Küpeli, who finished the map with a 121 ADR and a 1.46 rating.

"Today I found my aim from 1.6 and everything was cool," MAJ3R joked about his performance on the desk after the match, where he also watched a replay of a 1vs3 on Anubis.

Eternal Fire will now fight to make it out of the groups alive in the Group B upper bracket semi-final against G2 as they chase their fifth consecutive playoff berth of 2025, while Liquid will stave off elimination in the lower bracket against Imperial.
